The external life can never present us lasting merriment. This is because of the Law of Change, which means that change is the only constant; nothing remain the same. Under this law, whatever may see us happy today will change in some way at some point in time.
For example, we may get the job of our dreams one day; then the company we work for is bought out by another companionship and we are laid off. Or we may experience great happiness in our insinuate tie-in; then one day, the person we desire buds us. Thus, we should not rely on external situations for our happy.
